Thomas L. Falls, age 76, of Birmingham, AL, entered into eternal rest on May 9, 2011. He was the founder of Falls Janitorial Service, Inc. with 52 years of service to the community. As a member of St James A.M.E. Church he served as the President and Founder of the Male Chorus, and Former Chairman of the Trustee Board. He was instrumental in spearheading numerous renovation projects in his beloved church. He was a member of the Board of Trustees, Diabetes Hospital, Board of Directors, Kidney Foundation, Board of Directors, Birmingham Hitachi Sister City Commission, Member, Emeritus Member, Kiwanis Club of Birmingham, Emeritus Board of Directors, and Museum of Art, Member. Mr. Falls’ honors include: Outstanding Business Person of the Year for the State of Alabama (1980), Outstanding Service Award in the field of Business (Pi Lambda Sigma Fraternity), Office of Minority Business Enterprise Business Person of the Year (1979), and being featured in both Black Enterprise Magazine (1991) and Entrepreneur Magazine (June 1992). Left to cherish his memories: wife, Mary Helen Falls; daughters, Vanessa (Walter Body) Falls, Lantrese (Steven) Perry; sons, Rodney (Debra) McClendon, Thomas Falls, Jr.; one sister; ten grandchildren; one great grandchild; a host of other relatives and friends.
