Thomas Joseph Hofmann, 79, of Urbandale, IA passed away on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, surrounded by his family at Glen Oaks Care Center in Urbandale.
Thomas was born in Iowa Falls, IA December 9, 1941, the son of Harry Clyde and Mary Catherine (Lynch) Hofmann. He attended the Ackley Schools where he graduated in 1961. Thomas then enlisted in the United States Navy, serving his country for 4 years at the US Naval Station in San Diego, CA. On June 15, 1963, he married Sharon Kay Davis in Great Lakes, IL. Following his discharge, they lived in North Hollywood, CA for a time before returning back to Iowa and they made their home in Ackley and later the Des Moines area. He was employed by Reynolds and Reynolds as an Application Specialist until his retirement.
In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and camping with the guys on their annual GOCT trip.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Sharon Kay in 2018.
Thomas is survived by three children, Kathleen (Scott) Widen, Steven (Dawn) Hofmann, and Scott (Amy) Hofmann all of Urbandale, grandchildren Brandon (Rachael) Glaza and their children, Lyla, Alexi, Piper and Reagan, Jason (Erin) Glaza and son Emmett, Michael (Meredith) Hofmann, Jessica (Travis) Imboden, and Ethan Hampton, step-grandchildren, John, Robert, and Michael Widen, and Joella Lavagnino, brothers Larry Hofmann of Iowa Falls, IA, and Dick (Jane) Hofmann of Longwood, FL and a sister Judy Brandt of Ackley, IA.
