Thomas J Fernandez, 79, passed away March 27, 2010. He was born January 7, 1931 in Miami, Florida to Val and Marie Fernandez.

He is preceded in death by his parents and grandson Warren Ball.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria of 38 years; daughters, Joyce Ball and husband Bruce of South Carolina and Judy Hardy and husband Noel of Florida; grandchildren Judy Hynes and husband Patric of South Carolina, Bryce Ball and wife Kendra of South Carolina, Eric Hardy of Washington D.C. and Leanne Adams and David Hardy of Florida; a brother Paul Fernandez of Mississippi; a sister Rose Anderson of New Jersey and great grandchildren Kyle and Brooke Adams of Florida and Miriam Hynes of South Carolina.

He met his wife in Thule, Greenland while Gloria was serving in the U.S. Air Force. They were married there and then assigned to Holloman AFB. This was the most Northern American wedding performed. They were married 300 miles south of the North Pole.

He worked over seas for many years for ITT and RCA and was involved in the Early Warning System used during the Cold War.

He moved the family to Alamogordo in 1971 where he opened a Miracle Water business. He was the first to offer water by the gallon. He was an avid angler and loved to fish. He spent many winters in south east Texas fishing.

He was very active in the community. He was a lifetime member and past governor of Sertoma. He was a member of the Elks Lodge for 17 years, a member of the Chamber of Commerce, a Blue Coater and was in the Committee of Fifty.
