Thomas Eugene Hayden, 81, of Anderson, passed away on January 8, 2020 at Community Hospital, Anderson .
He was born on June 30, 1938 in Anderson, where he resided all of his life. Tom attended Anderson High School.
He worked at Emge’s and then owned and operated Hayden’s Custom Meats for 25 years and Hayden’s Septic Service for 35 years. He was an accomplished horse rider, competing in many flag and barrel races, winning several awards in those competitions. He also trained and raced horses over the years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed camping, working all the time, but spending time with his family was most important.
Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Shirley Hayden; children, Teresa (Ed) Harber, Kristina Hayden, Tommy Hayden, Scott (fiancée Jennifer) Robinette; sister, Barbara Trautwein; grandchildren, Rachel, Thomas, Joshua, Caleb, Zachariah, Zara, Zebadiah, Zane, Chris, Chloe, Todd, Matthew, Kyle, Brayden, Mia, Zachary, Jacob, Luke, Noah; 17 great-grandchildren; nieces, Brenda, and Kathy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Kathleen Hayden.
