Thomas E. Sonstrom, 61, of Candlewood Hill Rd., Higganum husband of Jeanne (Alfonso) Sonstrom, died suddenly Sunday, October 14th at Middlesex Hospital. Born in Jacksonville, FL, he was the son of Edward and Catherine (Leary) Sonstrom. Thomas was employed at Northeast Utilities for 35 yrs., worked part time for Higganum Feed, was a member of the BPOE, Middletown, Lodge # 771 and lived in Higganum for the past 38 yrs. He enjoyed fishing, scuba diving and traveling with his wife. Besides his wife and parents he is survived by three daughters, Dawn Sbalcio and her husband Stephen, of Portland, Wendy Plachno and her husband Stanley, of Bristol, Gretchen Sonstrom of Manchester, a step daughter Shawn Paggioli and her husband Mark, of Glastonbury, two stepsons, Kelly Crosse and his wife Jennifer, of East Hartford, Gary Crosse and Andria Chin of New York, NY and six grandchildren; Christopher, Nicholas, Gregory, Tristan, McKenna and Mason. Thomas also leaves his sister Bonnie Hills and her husband Benjamin, his niece and two nephews.
