Thomas E. Kelly, 88, of Newington, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2016 at his home. He was the beloved husband for more than 60 years to the late Irene (Gut) Kelly. Born in Hartford, son of the late Thomas and Mary (Rogers) Kelly, he was a Newington resident since 1955. Thomas was devoted to his family, and his home. He was a 60 year member of Local 40 of the Sheet Metal Workers’ International Association where he acted as Foreman and Sheet Metal Worker. His work contributed to the skylines of Hartford, CT and lower Manhattan in New York City in the late 1960’s and 70’s. For leisure, Tom enjoyed traveling with his wife Irene along the East Coast, and visiting friends in Florida and Myrtle Beach, SC. On weekends, he loved singing Karaoke in his basement, polka and square dancing, and playing cards with his wife and friends. He also frequented Foxwoods and followed all sports, especially the Red Sox. A loving father, grandfather and great grandfather, Thomas leaves behind his two daughters, Connie Baker and her husband Ken of Tolland, and Diane Link and her husband Stephen of West Hartford. His four grandchildren: Amelia Jean Baker, Nathan Kelly Baker and his wife Melissa, Taylor Marie Link and Thomas Kelly Link. He also leaves his great granddaughter, Cecilia Ruth Baker. Tom enjoyed suppers with his special friend, Jessie Adams of Newington. He was predeceased by his brother John Kelly and sister Grace Cohn.
