Thomas D. Richards, 77, of Flagstaff, AZ, died Wed., Sep. 4, 2019, at Olivia White Hospice Home following a long illness. Tom was born Oct. 12, 1941 to Thomas & Geraldine (Morby) Richards in Ogden, UT. He married Dixie Stanger on May 10, 1961 in Preston, ID, later making their life together in Flagstaff, AZ.
Tom spent his youth through his early 20’s haying on his aunt and uncle’s ranch in Evanston, WY, often using his vacation time to do so. He was “all things cowboy”. He loved to hunt, ride horses, and befriend dogs. After moving to Flagstaff he faithfully worked for the US Postal Service for 48 years, never once going postal. His greatest love was for his wife whom he called “the perfect woman”, his family, and God.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints his whole life, ultimately being ordained a high priest. He was also an avid reader who loved history. Tom is survived by his loving wife, Dixie; sister, Jeanne (Darrel) Larsen of Alpine, UT; his children Thomas (Roshan) Richards of Pleasant Grove, UT; Carrie Richards of Mattoon, IL; Susie (Bob) Lashua of Chino Valley, AZ; Deborah Richards of Flagstaff, AZ; and by 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
