Lakeland – Mr. Thomas F. “Coach Tom” Chodazeck went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 22, 2008 at his home from lung cancer. Mr. Chodazeck was born in Greenwich, Connecticut on August 22, 1956. Mr. Chodazeck was a semi-truck driver all his life and spent the last eight years at Carpenter Company. He was an Army veteran of Vietnam and a member of Family Worship Center.
Mr. Chodazeck’s hobbies included fly-fishing the White River, riding his Honda Shadow Classic and taking his Jeep to the beach. He loved children and his spare time was spent coaching Little League football and baseball for nine years between the Crystal Lake Panthers and Dixie Boys Baseball where his teams went to the Super Bowl and State championships. He was known as “Coach Tom” or “Mr. Tom” to everyone who knew him. Mr. Tom was an Honorary Girl Scout and could often be found helping his daughter with projects and meetings. His laughter and zest for life will be missed by many.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma “Jeannie” Chodazeck of Lakeland; daughters, Stacy Cole of Lakeland and Rebecca and husband, Michael Rains of Athens, Alabama; son, Michael Thomas Chodazeck of Lakeland; twin sister, Ellen Still of Polk City; brothers, Bobby Chodazeck of Bartow, and Kevin Chodazeck of Winter Haven; and granddaughter, Taylor Grace Rains of Athens.
