The world lost an honorable man. Mr. Thomas ‘Tom’ C. Blair passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday April 3, 2021 in Fort Lauderdale.
Born on July 8, 1947, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the son of the late Dr. and Mrs. C.D. Blair. Tom grew up in Flemingsburg, Kentucky, just outside of Lexington and graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1970 with his bachelor’s degree, where he was also a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He then also received his MBA from Eastern Kentucky University. Following his education, Lieutenant Colonel Blair served in the Army for more than 20 years.
While on active duty in Germany he met his Danish wife, Karen Birgitte Blair. Soon after in 1974, they were married in Flemingsburg, Kentucky, lived in Lexington then moved to Huntington, West Virginia, where Tom worked for IBM. In 1977, they welcomed their first daughter, Mia, followed by their son Philip, in 1983. After having children, the family relocated to Boca Raton, Florida, where Tom continued to work for IBM for another 25 years.
During his retirement, Tom enjoyed being around his friends and family. He enjoyed watching and attending basketball games, golf matches, and horse races. Most of all, Tom loved watching his beloved Kentucky Wildcats Basketball team for which his father played for in the 1930’s. He also enjoyed reading books, boating and traveling.
Tom is survived by his wife of 48 years, Karen Birgitte Blair; their children Philip Blair, Mia Blair Mayo; his sister, Bonnie Blair Giehls and brother, Robert ‘Bob’ Blair.
The family would like to thank all our friends and family for their continued support during this difficult time.
