He was born, the youngest of four siblings, on July 31, 1962 in El Cajon, California, to Ivan Keith Brooks and Elaine Darlene Fetzer.

At the time of his death Tom was doing what he loved, working as an independent Handyman in Haxtun, Colorado.

Tom grew up in El Cajon, California and graduated from Granite Hills High in 1981.  Tom started working in construction after High School.  Growing up in Southern California Tom enjoyed time with family and friends at the coast, in the mountains and in the desert.  His travels brought him to Colorado in the early 2000’s where he continued to enjoy the outdoors.  Tom and his dad also followed NASCAR racing.

Tom was a son, a brother, brother-in-law, and uncle.  He loved his family and was always happy to help them when they were in need of a babysitter, dog sitter, chauffer, or just a helping hand.  Tom did not make casual acquaintances, but life-long friends and cherished each and every one.  Although he was always eager to help others, he was reluctant to ask for help himself.  Tom was a gentle soul with a very giving heart and his giving continues after his death.

He was preceded in death by his mother Elaine Darlene Fetzer (Brooks).

Tom is survived by his father, Ivan Keith Brooks in Haxtun; sister, Lynnette Berendes in Douglas, Wyoming; brothers, John Brooks in El Cajon, California and Ricky Brooks in Euless, Texas.  Tom is also survived by his Aunt Carol Scheel and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
