Thomas A. Decker, age 74, of Cassopolis, died Tuesday afternoon, January 29, 2019. He was born June 9, 1944 in South Bend, Indiana, the oldest of three children born to Dean and Betty Decker. Tom was a lifelong Cassopolis resident. He was passionate about the outdoors and loved spending time in the field hunting pheasant over one of his beloved dogs.
Fall was another great season of Tom’s. Whitetail hunts, trips to Newfoundland or the rugged terrain of Montana. Spring and summer offered Tom another chance to spend his time outdoors. He loved to fish with his friends. Tom was a general contractor and built and repaired homes for many in the area. He was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia in 2016 and was doing very well with his treatments. Thomas will be sorely missed by all of his family and friends who loved him.
He is survived by his fiancée Paula Wilson of Cassopolis; two daughters, Tonya (Jason) Morgan of Three Rivers, Terri-Anne Decker of Dowagiac; one son, Thomas Decker, Jr. of Florida; one daughter, Tina (John) Steiner of Three Rivers; one grandson, Benjamin Thomas Morgan; one granddaughter, Jenna Steiner of Three Rivers; twin sisters, Susan (Gregg) Miller of South Bend, Indiana and Sarah (Milton) Kley of Bargersville, Indiana.
Thomas was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Camp, her husband, Alden; and his father, Dean Decker, and his grandparents.
