Theresa M. Pankonin, age 80 of Freeport, IL, formerly of Woodstock, IL, passed away Monday, March 26, 2018 at Peal Pavilion in Freeport.
She was born September 9, 1937; the daughter of the late Walter and Mary (Hertel) Spoerlein. She attended McHenry Community College. On September 14, 1974, Theresa married Earl Pankonin in Harvard, IL.
She had worked at the Admiral Corporation in Harvard for 10 years and worked 23 years at Woodstock Die Cast. She then spent 9 years working several positions in a temp service.
Theresa was a member of St. Thomas of Aquinas Catholic Church in Freeport. She was also a former member of the Women of the Moose in Woodstock. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and needle work. She also loved traveling and flying with her husband.
She is survived by her husband, Earl Pankonin; brother, Kenneth (Katie) Spoerlein; sister-in-law, Jean (Gerald) Tauchen; nephews, Bill Spoerlein, Jim (Kathy) Spoerlein, and Kevin Spoerlein; and nieces, Susan (Jeff) Brown, Becky (Ron) Nelson, Connie Schuman, and Michelle (Chris) Hartwig. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, George; and sister-in-laws, Edna Spitzbart, Margaret Heinsohn and Maureen Spoerlein.
