Theresa A. Shiflett

November 13, 1936 – July 17, 2020

Theresa A. Shiflett (nee Knight), passed away peacefully on Friday, July 17, 2020, at 83, following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s.  She was born on November 13, 1936 in Baltimore County, the daughter of the late Joseph and Theresa Knight.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Shiflett, Sr.; daughter, Pamela Johnson and her husband Charles; grandson, Charlie Shifflett; great grandson, Jase Rich; brother, Joseph Knight; and sisters, Esther McCarter and Amelia Saboy.

She is survived by her children, Theresa Miller and husband Jeff, Darla Rich, Thomas Shiflett, Jr. and companion Janice; sisters, Louise Seifert and Emma Feehely; sister-in-law, Sylvia Woolford; grandchildren, Mike Johnson, Brandi Duffy, Tiffany and Brandon Shifflett, Rodney Rich II, Sara and Don Miller, and their spouses; and numerous great grandchildren, nephews and nieces, all of whom she loved and touched deeply.

Theresa was, first and foremost, a dedicated mother and grandmother, embracing and treasuring every moment with family.  She especially loved her role as “Mom-Mom.”  Though she’ll be greatly missed, we’re happy her spirit is now free to soar.  Special thanks for the care provided by ManorCare Ruxton and Heartland Hospice staff.

Two Smiling Eyes

Two smiling eyes are sleeping,

two busy hands are still.

The one we love so deeply

is resting at God’s will.

May she always walk in sunshine,

God’s love around her glow.

For all the happiness she gave us,

only a few will ever know.

It broke our hearts to lose her,

but she didn’t go alone.

For part of us went with her

the day God called her home.

23rd Psalm

The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures;

He leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul.

He leadeth me in the path of righteousness for His name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

I will fear no evil;

for Thou art with me;

Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies.

Thou anointest my head with oil;

my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me

all the days of my life;

and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
