He was born on December 18, 1914 in Laytonsville, MD and was raised on a 100 acre farm in nearby Woodfield, MD. Married 69 years to his loving wife Theresa Duvall. He is survived by three sons; Alvin, Dennis and Rick; six grandchildren; Tara Faunteroy (husband Joe), Sean Prather (wife Danielle), Tia Medina (husband Tommy), Marcus, TaLoria and Alexis Prather; four great-grandchildren; Sierra, Dorian, Camryn and Joseph; three sisters; Bernice Howard, Marjorie Johnson and Laverne Jackson; two brothers-in-law; Harry Stewart, Sr., and Benjamin Jackson; three sisters-in-law; Jestina Stewart, Virgie Prather and Hannah Stewart; and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends. He retired from the Gov’t Printing Office in 1974. He remained healthy throughout his long, active life and would regale friends and family with historical details from the “old” Montgomery County.
