Theodore “Ted” Hoover, Jr., age 90, of Algona died on Wednesday October 18, 2017 at Windsor Manor in Algona. Theodore Robert Hoover, Jr., the son of Theodore Sr. and Nola (Andrews) Hoover, was born on February 2, 1927 at Plum Creek Township. He attended Plum Creek Elementary School and graduated from Titonka High School in 1944. Following graduation, Ted enlisted in the United States Navy. On May 23, 1949, Ted was united in marriage to JoAnne Harris at the United Methodist Church in Titonka. He was an avid farmer and was proud to have grown seed corn for Pioneer for 65 years. In 1973, Ted along with his dad and siblings, opened River Road Golf Course in Algona. Ted was a member of the Titonka United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge, Shriners, Order of Eastern Star and the VFW. He served on the church board, Office of Economic Opportunity Board, Iowa State Bank Board of Directors Board and several other boards. He loved to square dance, bowl with his bowling league, play cards especially Euchre, attend the races, golf with the Senior Golf over 50 group and attending Navy reunions. Most of all he adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ted is survived by his wife of 68 years, JoAnne of Algona; children, Sandy Hoover of Algona, Ted S. Hoover (late Janice) of Burt, Terry Hoover (Lynne) of Algona and Conna Roesler (Craig) of Waseca, Minnesota; grandchildren, Ben Roesler (Lindsay), Colette Roesler (Andre), Heather DeJong (Justin), Brandon Hoover (Jaclyn), Ryan Hoover (Jayna) and Brad Hoover (Brittany); great grandchildren, Kinley Vaudt, Natalee Hoover, Sadie Hoover, Hayes Hoover and Georgia Roesler; and brothers, Merle Hoover of Arizona, Gary Hoover (Marilyn) of Algona, Kent Hoover (Donna) of Algona and Kevin Hoover (Dee) of Algona. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Vaughn and Roger Hoover; sister, Diane; grandson, Chad Hoover and daughter-in-law, Janice Hoover.
