Theodore R. Barnett, 86, of Ortley Beach section of Toms River Twp., NJ, passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2015, at Community Medical Center, Toms River after a short illness. Born in Irvington, NJ, he lived in Hillside, NJ, and summered in Ortley Beach before moving there permanently in 1985. Theodore was a Tile Layer and was a member of the Tile Layers Union Local 7, formerly Local 52, in New York City. He retired in 1991.
He was a parishioner of the Parish of St. Pio, Lavallette, NJ, and served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Theodore was predeceased by his brother Frank and his sister Shirley Lykes.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years Katherine (nee Zweidinger), two sons Robert Barnett of Philadelphia, PA, and Thomas Barnett & his wife Mandi of Downingtown, PA, two daughters Donna Nafie & her husband Scott of Basking Ridge, NJ and Karen Barnett of Sayreville, NJ, and three grandchildren Sarah, Andrew & his fiancée Hannah, and Matthew. Theodore is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
