Ted Schmidt was born on December 8, 1939 in Queens, New York. He grew up in Greenlawn, Long Island. Ted spent 4 years in the Navy on destroyer duty and was part of the Cuban blockade in 1962. After the Navy he was a Long Island clam digger till he joined the New York City Fire Department in 1969. Upon retiring in 1989 he became a Long Island Sound Lobster Fisherman and ultimately retired to Cocoa Beach where he served for 12 as a volunteer on the city’s patrol boat. His favorite past time was riding his Harley Fat Boy with the Misfit Motorcycle Club.
He leaves his wife of 53 years, Linda -two children-Lauren Picciani of Redwood City, California, Ted K Schmidt of Huntington, New York and three brothers- Jim Schmidt of Germantown, NY, Tom Schmidt of East Northport, NY and Dennis Schmidt of East Northport New York.
