Theodore “Chief” Endy, age 83, of the Town of Floyd, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2020. 

 

 He was born August 20, 1937, in Reading, PA, the son of the late Paul and Elizabeth R. Fries Endy. Ted was united in marriage to the former Kiyoko “June” Hiratsuka, in 1957, in Japan; she died September 15, 2007. He proudly served in the United States Air Force and served a distinguished career in the Fire Protection Division rising through the ranks to Fire Chief.  On his military retirement he served as the civilian Fire Chief at Griffiss Air Force Base from 1977 to his retirement in 1997 with 42 years of service in the Fire Protection Division.  He was a member of the Floyd Volunteer Fire Department and served as a Fire Commissioner and a member of the St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church.

 

  Chief Endy is survived by a son and daughter in law, Dr. Timothy and Darlene Endy of Manlius; and grandchildren, Justin, Evan and Lauren.

 

  He will be entombed in Woodlawn Cemetery, Syracuse where he joins his wife.
