On July 23, 2007, Theodora “Teddy” Gasparis,84, of Glen Burnie passed away unexpectedly due to respiratory complications. She was the loving wife of the late Peter Gasparis for 32 years; devoted mother and mother-in-law to Parie and Russell Willis and Paulette and Nelson Hardy; and the cherished grandmother to Michael and Betty Currey, and Nicole and Cliff Wietstruk; and great grandmother to Chase, Jordan and Olivia Wietstruk. Ms. Gasparis immigrated to the United States at the age of 12 from Istanbul, Turkey. She married her high school sweetheart, and worked during World War II as one of the original “Rosie the Rivoters”. The Gasparis family moved from Brooklyn, New York to Glen Burnie, Maryland in 1956.
They took over the still standing landmark known as “Honey Bee Drive In Restaurant” which they successfully operated from 1956-1977. Ms. Gasparis was known and loved by many people. She was known to many as “Mom”, “Queen Bee”, or “Theodorable”. Teddy enjoyed traveling, bingo, casinos but the latest and greatest joys of her life were brought to her by her great grandchildren. She will be missed by many.
