Thelma Wellenreiter, 88, of Jacksonville, IL died Wednesday evening, December 31, 2008 at the home of her son, Kenneth, in Jacksonville.

She was born July 25, 1920 in Nortonville, IL; the daughter of Marshall Ellis and Stella McAllister Grider. She married Henry Wellenreiter on July 23, 1939 and he preceded in death in 1978.

She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Wellenreiter Sr. (wife, Cherri) of Jacksonville and Gilbert Wellenreiter (wife, Sharon) of Winchester; a daughter, Clara Maher (husband, John) of Springfield; nine grandchildren; several great grandchildren; a sister, Clarabell Alred of Paxton; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Emory Grider, and two sisters, Eloise Twyford and Betty Stanberry.

Mrs. Wellenreiter attended Murrayville High School and was employed by the State of Illinois Department of Mental Health for 20 years at Jacksonville Developmental Center in Jacksonville prior to her retirement. She was a founding member of Faith Lutheran Church in Jacksonville and a life member of the Good Sam Retirees Camping Club. She enjoyed crafts and camping in her spare time.
