Thelma Marie Stattner, 81 of Nampa, went home to be in the presence of our Lord on the afternoon of Wednesday, June 8, 2016. She departed peacefully as a result of natural causes.
Thelma Marie Dodson was born in the town of Moulton, Iowa, on Saturday, March 2, 1935. She was the sixth child of Theodore Francis Dodson and Zena Fern (Horn) Dodson.
The family moved from Iowa to Idaho where as a young girl, Thelma met and fell in love with her soulmate, Johnny Joe Stattner. They were married on June 30, 1952. To this union were born six children, four boys and two girls.
Thelma enjoyed doing many things and excelled in most everything she worked on or created. She was an avid painter with an eye for capturing all of God’s creation. She enjoyed working in the kitchen preparing wonderful meals to bring her family comfort and togetherness. She was also a gardener, seamstress, stylist, horsewoman, camper, Sunday School teacher, and traveled extensively across the country. Thelma was employed at times throughout her life, and prior to retirement she was the proud manager of the Karcher Ranch Market in Nampa. All brought her great joy though nothing more importantly than being the matriarch of her family that she cherished. Her greatest legacy was the love she poured out on to each and every one of them.
Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Gary Joe and Dusty Lee; her daughter-in-law, Tina; one sister; and three brothers.
She is survived by her husband, Johnny Joe; two daughters, Jewel (Gary) Wey and Cheryl (Tony) Muldoon; two sons, David (Mara) Stattner and Rick Stattner; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Special thanks to the staff of Hearts for Hospice nursing staff and caregivers for the excellent care, love, and support Thelma received while in their care.
