Thelma Lee Wallen, 76, of Fairmount passed away September 3, 2021 at her home with her family at her side.
She was born August 15, 1945, in Harlan County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Willie Hampton and Beulah Kelly. Thelma married the love of her life, Ronald B. Wallen on March 9, 1963. Thelma was a dedicated wife, mother and “Mamaw” who put all her time into raising her five children and being a large role in all of her grandchildren’s lives. She was employed by Essex Wire and Wabash Technologies until she served as a Lead Operator for Square D Electrical Company where she retired in 2011. Thelma’s family was her greatest source of pride. Everything she did revolved around those she loved. Hosting Sunday dinners, weekly card games, gardening and canning or just having every one over every night around the “round table”. She led by example, demonstrating strength, love, the importance of family and the value of hard work. Thelma will be dearly missed by all those she’s impacted in her 76 years.
She is survived by her children; Linda (Harold) Gann, Upland, Lisa Stephens, Shelbyville, Rhonda Wallen, Fairmount, and Debbie (Andy Petty) Wallen, Fairmount, three sisters; Charlene (Mike) Coy, Waynesburg, KY, Annie (Larry) Adams, Sciencehill, KY, Ruby Allen, Waynesburg, KY, brother; Leonard Hampton, Fairmount. Thelma is also survived by her grandchildren; Jessica (Steve) Mullen, Lindsay (Scott Beall) Larimore, Michele (Jamison Barlow) Larimore, Megan (Stan Willhide) Larimore, Natalie (Brian Deweese) Gann, Blaine Beaty, Faith (Matthew Boyer) Hawkins, Isaac Beaty, Hannah Hawkins, Ethan Hawkins, fourteen great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
