Thelma H. (Alsvig) Kyle, 90, of Leland formerly of Prairie Center, died on Sunday August 6, 2017 OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa. Thelma was born on November 20, 1926 in Goodell, IA to Thore and Myrtle (Boe) Alsvig. She was a graduate of Serena High School. She married Alfred Kyle on November 30, 1946 in Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church in Ottawa.
Thelma was a telephone operator for Illinois Bell in Ottawa, a bookkeeper at Mitchell Sale Barn, and the neighborhood babysitter of many. Thelma was a member of Freedom Lutheran Church, Freedom Lutheran Mission Guild, and was the Secretary Treasurer of Faith Circle at Bethany Lutheran Church, in Leland.
She is survived by 3 daughters, Kathy (Kent) Sellers, of Earlville, Debra ( Mike) Steffes, of Wheaton, and Karen “Lou” (Randy) Johnson, of Leland, 5 grandchildren: Amanda (Tim) Hoyt, Megan Johnson and her fiancé, Jordan Clark, Chris (Karen) Stefffes, Dan (Lindsey) Steffes, and Kelly Steffes and her fiancé, Kyle Bradley, 3 great-grandchildren, Cameron Steffes, Emily Steffes, and Jason Hoyt, and a 4th on the way, a brother Wayne (Sharon) Alsvig, of Marseilles, and 4 sisters, Arlene Nickle, of Ottawa, Omi Jovanovich, of Shelby, MT, Sandra Wilson, of Ottawa, and Pearl Pastorick, of Ottawa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1987 and one brother Marvin Alsvig. Pallbearers will be Chris Steffes, Dan Steffes Tim Hoyt, Kyle Bradley, Jordan Clark, and Steve Tuftie.
