Mrs. Thelma Gumbs-James, age 80, of Newnan gained her heavenly wings on Monday, December 24, 2018, and went to be with her Savior whom she loved. Psalms 91 tells us that “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty” and Mrs. Gumbs-James followed that verse and lived her life in that very way until the Lord called her home.

She was born in St. Ann, Jamaica to the late Phillip Lawrence and Conseter Simms. Mrs. Gumbs-James served her life as a nurse. She worked for Bermuda Memorial Hospital and retired at the age of 70. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Joshua Sterling. She leaves behind her husband of over 10 years, Mr. Keith James; her daughters, Rosemary King, Sonia King, and Anne Marie King; her siblings, Evelyn “Babe” Sterling and Alfred Sterling; her cherished grandchildren, Oniel, Mimi, Michael, Antoine, Eliya, Eric, Adonis, Errol, Erica, Zephaniah, and Toyin; her beloved great-grandchildren, Kayla, Elijah, Zion, Jada, Mariah, Johnathan, Londyn, and Lauren. Many nieces and nephews and family members and countless friends also remain.
