Thelma Graham, 88, of Elkhart passed away peacefully at Elkhart General Hospital on Monday, Sept. 2, 2013, at 4:10 a.m. after a brief illness.
She was born May 8, 1925, in Wheatley, Ark., to the late Calvin and Ella (Smith) Griffin.
She married Woodrow Graham Sr. on April 5, 1942, in Hughes, Ark.
He preceded her in death in 1990 along with sons Connie and Charlie Graham; daughter Sallie Williams; sister Rachel Gadson; and brothers Nevada, Henry, R.C., and David Griffin.
Surviving are her daughters, Sandra (Edward) Graham-Logan of Goshen and Miranda (David) Porter of Charlotte, N.C.; sons Woodrow “Woody” (Carolyn), Cleo, and Pastor Willie (Dianna) Graham, all of Elkhart; sister Minnie Mason of St. Louis; 25 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Thelma worked at several area businesses including Kinder Manufacturing, The Hotel Elkhart, Hoosier Cleaners and Laundry, and Honey RV. She was a faithful member of New Light of Hope Christian Center Church of God in Christ and was the oldest mother of the Solid Rock District under the tutelage of Superintendent Hackworth and District Missionary Betty Holiday
