Thelma Avery, 86, of Three Oaks, Michigan died Saturday evening, February 7, 2009. Mrs. Avery was born October 2, 1922 on the Zeiger family farm in Three Oaks to Wesley and Dagmar (Jensen) Zeiger and graduated from Three Oaks High School in 1940. She married Walter Avery on March 20, 1941 in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Mrs. Avery was a member of the Three Oaks United Methodist Church. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and spending time at church. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Richard (Wanda) Avery, East Tawas, Michigan; Linda (Stanley) Akers, Peru, Indiana; William (Sallie) Avery of Norfolk, Virginia; Marilyn (Richard) Snow of Three Oaks; and Barbara Scofield of LaPorte, Indiana; 16 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; sisters, Vernice Berk and Katheryn Hubbard, brother Wesley Zeiger Jr and granddaughter Alisha Ryder Avery.
