Thalia Tyson Carter, 71, passed on to the presence of the Lord on November 21, 2012, after a brief battle with cancer. She was a 30 year resident of Grand Junction, CO and recently moved to Terre Haute, IN to be closer to family. Thalia was born August 1, 1941 in Dallastown, PA to Anna Mary Grove Tyson and James Tyson. Thalia is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 31 years, Charles L. Carter; sons, Daren Dittmann of Centennial, CO and David Dittman and his wife, Christie, of Terre Haute, IN. Thalia is also survived by brothers Terry and wife, Gerry Tyson; Charles “Tim” and wife, Judy Tyson; Barry Tyson; sister, Theda Mickey; two grandchildren, Berkeley Dittmann and Vanessa Linder, and husband, Jeremy; two step-grandsons, Justin And Evan Harbaugh; as well as seven nieces and nephews. Thalia and Charles established and owned Alcan Spring, of Grand Junction, CO, from 1982 to 2011. Thalia was an active member of the Grand Junction, Co community through involvement in numerous bridge groups/marathons. She adored global travel with a close-knit group of girlfriends and had many hobbies and affections, especially for her pet Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. Her family remembers her as very classy lady, sharp-witted, independent, sassy, and a shrewd card and scrabble player who rarely lost.
