Tessa Irene Ebert, 10, of Byers, Colorado, passed away on May 7, 2020 in Byers, Colorado.

Tessa was born in Denver, Colorado to Kres and Julie Ebert.  She was the youngest sibling in their family of five and was welcomed by older siblings Meghan (16) and Krayton (12).

Tessa dearly loved animals and the outdoors.  She never missed an opportunity to help mom and dad assist a cow or a calf. All indoor chores were quite the burden—but ask her to do anything outside, and she would jump right up.  She loved her horses Beauty, Red, and Foxy, her dogs and kittens, and being on the farm.  A week before her death, her Christmas wish of a new horse came true, and she spent hours riding Foxy.  She could also often be found singing, performing gymnastics moves with her friends, playing basketball, or snow skiing.

Tessa was in fourth grade at Byers Elementary. She was the vice president of student council. She naturally excelled in her classes, was proud to be in the talented and gifted program like her big brother and sister, and was loved by her teachers, classmates and friends.  As you could imagine, recess and PE were her favorite activities.

When Tessa was two, she beat cancer.  She took that determined spirit with her wherever she went. She had a particular knack for talking her family into everything—from new bunnies to kittens to horses to her favorite pizza to. . .you name it!  Her magnetic personality was a bright spot in the lives of her family and friends.  Even when Tessa was the smallest person in the room, she always had the biggest laugh!

Tessa is survived by her parents Kres and Julie Ebert; her sister Meghan and brother Krayton; grandparents Kerry and Cathy Ebert of Bassett, NE, Linda Ebert of Byers, CO, and David and Susan Hutchinson of Rose, NE; alongside several aunts, uncles and cousins who loved her and will miss her immensely. Tessa was preceded in death by her grandfather Roger Buell.

The Ebert family is planning a memorial for Tessa.
