Terry Van Smith, 68, died Thursday March 21, 2013 in Franklin. He was a resident of Franklin.
Terry was born March 10, 1945 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Dale S. and Laverne (Prall) Smith.
He was employed with Cummins Engine as a diesel mechanic for 30 years, retiring in 1993.
He was a Army National Guard Veteran. Terry graduated Franklin Community High School in 1963, where he excelled in football and was the captain of the team his senior year. He was a fan of Indiana University Basketball. He also was a huge Corvette enthusiast and had the first new corvette in Franklin. Terry was a dedicated father and son; as he especially enjoyed spending time with his son, Cody.
Survivors include, a son, Cody Dale Smith of Franklin, step-son, William ”Tracy” Canter of Franklin and two step-grandchildren, Jason and Dylan Canter.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a half-brother, Bob LeFever.
