Terry L. Springer, 74, of Huntertown, passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2022, at his home.

He was born on July 7, 1948, in Fort Wayne, to the late Elmer and Katherine (Hoke) Springer. He spent his formative years in Fort Wayne and attended South Side High School until his senior year. Then he attended and graduated from Marion High School. Later he graduated from Ivy Tech Community College.

After high school, he served in the United States Marine Corps from September 1966 to September 1970. His service included more than one year spent in Vietnam, where he was assigned as a helicopter crew chief with the HMM (VMM) -364 Purple Foxes. During his years of service, Terry attained the rank of Sergeant and his personal awards include: 21 Air Medals, Navy Commendation Medal (with combat distinguishing device), Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal (with 2 stars), Vietnam Cross of Gallantry (w/palm), Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Combat Air Crew Wings (with 3 stars)

Terry was married to Sylvia Jane Mills in Fort Wayne, on March 22, 1985. He retired from Magnavox after 23 years of service. In Terry’s retirement, he enjoyed fishing, working in his yard, and just being outside. More recently,  he enjoyed smoking meat on his Green Egg.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sylvia Springer; three sons, Aaron (Heather) Springer, Erick (Jodie) Springer, and Craig (Joni) Knox; seven siblings, Bonnie (Craig) Cummings, Tom Brenneman, Randy (Jenny) Springer, Mona (John) Penisten, Anna Kreckman, Janean Springer, and Jim (Pam) Shull; six grandchildren, Alex, Sam, Sofi, Nadia, Hannah, and Kai.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Springer; a brother, Kerry Brenneman.
