Captain Terry D. Blackerby passed away at his Ponce de Leon Estate on Jan 4, 2008. He was a native of Fort Walton Beach, born on Aug 8, 1960. Terry graduated from Choctaw High School in 1978. He navigated the waters of the Gulf Coast oil fields for 15 years and was well respected by his peers.
Terry was preceded in death by his brother, Dennis.
He is survived by his parents, Eugene and Willadeen; sister, Sonya (Grey) Gruendler; sister in law, De; Wife, Debra; Son, Bradley (Kit) Blackerby; Beloved stepchildren, Jaime (Carlos) Mejea and Tyler Carlson; granddaughter, Natalie, and many nephews.
As a native Floridian, Terry loved the sea and all adventures relating to it, especially fishing. Before graduating CHS, he was a member of the 1978 championship football team and continued to love sports throughout his life. Terry loved the outdoors and lived life to the fullest. He was a proud father, who adored his family.
