Terez Dunai is now reunited with her husband Juliu Dunai (deceased), the love of her life for 55 years on August 1, 2023.

Born on September 18, 1940 to the late Andras and Maria (Szabo) Karetka.  Member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parish since 1980 and member of the Altar Rosary Society.

Loving mother of Laszlo Dunai, Helen Zito (Jim), Elvria Baron (Paul) and Melinda Schafer (Jamie).  Grandmother of Danny Zito (Charity), Joey Zito, Elizabeth Zito (Nico), Csilla Schafer and Andrea Schafer.  Survived by two brothers and a sister and numerous nieces and nephews.  Proceeded in death by one brother and two sisters.

Terez married the love of her life at 17.  Stories were often told of Juliu serenading Terez with a violin outside her window while they were dating.  They loved to sing, dance, hold hands and pray together.  Faith and family were most important in her life.  Terez was a generous, nurturing and self-giving mother and homemaker.  She was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family, especially over the holidays.  She dedicated her faith and prayed for her kids and grandkids to stay strong in their love of Christ.  What a beautiful memory we all have of learning how to pray and sing at home with our parents growing up.  She praised God by singing as our Dad played the violin.  Terez also made afghans as gifts for family and friends over the years.  She loved to share this talent with her youngest granddaughter.  She was the central figure in the lives of her children.  She loved her family more than anything.  Anyone who knew her knew that her grandkids were the stars in her eyes and she was very proud of all of them.  We will remember the Hungarian gulyas “leves”, fried cauliflower, stuffed cabbage, and nut rolls Mom made growing up. Such traditions will live on in her legacy.
