Teresa Krukowski, 83, of New Britain, beloved wife of the late Alfred Krukowski, entered into eternal rest on August 12, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer at the Hospital Of Central Connecticut, with her son Thomas at her bedside. Teresa was born on June 12, 1938 in Jankowicze, Poland (today Belarus), to Bronislaw and Jadwiga Lukaszewicz. In 1943, the family was uprooted and deported to a forced labor camp in Koln, Germany. Until the liberation in 1945, they endured the inhumane conditions of the camp and the daily Allied bombardment of Koln, the most bombed city in Germany. The post war years were a series of relocations between displaced persons camps. The quality of life was supplemented by soup kitchens and the relief packages administered by UNNRA. In 1951, she sailed across the Great Pond and settled in New Britain. Teresa’s family was the most important thing in her life. She worked hard to ensure that her family did not experience the brutality of her childhood. She cared more about the well-being of her family rather than herself. She was a devout parishioner of Sacred Heart Church and a proud member of the Haller Post Ladies Auxiliary. Teresa was predeceased by her parents, her husband Alfred and sons Fred and Richard. Sadly, in addition to her son Thomas, she leaves behind her grandson Kyle Krukowski of New Britain, grandson AJ Krukowski and his mother Regina of Ft. Collin, Co., her brother Bruno Lukas and his wife Theresa of New Britain, her sister Wanda Dumais of Deep River, and many nieces and nephews including Lisa Lukas, Grace Petroka, Laura Jakubiec, Christina Gaskil, Daniel Lukas, Steven Jakubiec and their families.
