Teresa Agnes (Schwamberger) Hunter, 89, of rural LaMoille passed away peacefully at her home on February 18, 2016, among family and her caregiver Lina.

Mrs. Hunter was born January 2, 1927, to Charles and Agnes (Cahill) Schwamberger in Truman,  Minnesota. She married Daniel Hunter on October 3, 1949, in St.

Teresa was a graduate of L-P-O Junior College and was a school teacher in the eastern Bureau  County school system, specifically the rural schools.

Teresa was a staunch believer in educational attainment and was a gifted writer and oral history teller of her maternal and paternal families’ histories tracing back to when they emigrated to the U.S. from Ireland and Germany. She earned her Illinois real estate broker license in the 1970s and worked as an independent agent.

Teresa is survived by four sons: Daniel A. Hunter of Arlington, Robert Hunter of LaMoille, Kevin Hunter of Savannah, Ga., and David Hunter of West Brooklyn. Also surviving are her sister, Vivian Yaklish of La Salle; her son-in-law, Amador Gutierrez Jr. of Laredo, Texas; and a brother-in-law, James Hunter of Arlington; grandchildren, Ryan and Kevin Gutierrez of San Antonio, Texas; Justin and Adam Hunter, students at University of Illinois, and Elizabeth Hunter of Savannah,  Ga.

She is preceded in death by her only daughter, Teresa Agnes Hunter-Gutierrez, formerly of Laredo,  Texas, as well as her husband of 66 years, Daniel J. Hunter. Family members preceded her were: her sister, Monica Dwyer, formerly of Arlington, in 2000; her brothers, Leo J. Schwamberger, formerly of La Salle, in 2006; Jerome Schwamberger, formerly of Arlington, in 2008 and Bernard Schwamberger, formerly of Arlington, in 2014; and her sister, Rita Graham, formerly of rural Marseilles, in 2016.
