Ted Wain King, 67, of Holiday Island passed away Thursday October 23, 2014. He was born in Cleburne, Texas on August 2, 1947 to Charlie and Jewell King. When he was 4 years old, his family moved to Fort Worth, Texas. He grew up in a family of 5 brothers and 1 sister. Ted’s family faithfully attended Rolling Hills Baptist Church and it was there at the age of 13, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. Ted graduated from Polytechnic High School in 1965 and went on to finish two years at Texas Wesleyan College. He was then drafted and served his country during the Vietnam War. He worked for the US Postal Service for 33 years. In April of 1980, he met the love of his life, Marsha Kay Hagquist. It was love at first sight! They met in April, got engaged in May and were married in July. They were married for 34 years. In 2002, they both retired and moved to Holiday Island, AR. As a young boy, Ted had a great sense of humor and enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved playing all kinds of sports. His favorite was baseball. He played left-handed first baseman and at times was a pitcher. He tried his hand at boxing in the Golden Gloves with two of his other brothers. Later he started playing golf and enjoyed watching lots of football and hockey in his spare time.
