Tammy DeWayne Mays, age 63, of Elkhart, Texas, passed away on Friday, the 6th day of May 2022, at his home in Elkhart, Texas. Tammy was born on the 21st day of September 1958, in Palestine, Texas, to parents DeWitt Talmage Mays and Ruby Mae Kennedy Mays.
Tammy had numerous interests in life, but none brought him more joy than spending time with his family, making them laugh, and putting smiles on their faces. He was a loving and devoted husband and father. If you were lucky enough to know Tammy, you know the love he had for taking something old and restoring it to new. He had a gift of taking your junk and turning it into life. He had restored more cars and motorcycles than you can imagine throughout his life. Tammy also enjoyed playing the electric guitar, being a pilot, flying airplanes, and helicopters. He will be greatly missed by his loving family, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all that loved him.
Tammy is preceded in death by his parents, DeWitt and Ruby Mays and sister, Marthell Grigsby.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 34 years, Cindy Mays; daughters, Heidi Mays of Spring, Hannah Mays of Elkhart; son, Tam Mays and wife Kendall of Houston; sisters, Elaine Lowery and husband Glenn of Elkhart, Donetta Petters and husband Daryl of Tyler; brother, Marlon Cooper and wife Virginia of Palestine. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
