TALMAGE (TOM) C. SPARKS 86 of Aboite, Roanoke, IN passed away at his home on Nov 8, 2018. He is the son of the late Talmage W and Lydia (Mowery) Sparks. He had 4 brothers preceed him in death Loren, Bernard, Gaylord, Denver Sparks and a sister Martina (Weihe) Sparks. He married Merlie Creech in Oct of 1952 and had 2 sons Rick (Butch) (Cinda) Sparks and Wendell (Naoma) Sparks. Merlie passed on from complications of heart surgery in June of 1964. Tom married Janet Heitger in March of 1966 and had 2 daughters Denise (Trent) Ellis and Jeanine Sparks.
Tom was a Korean War Veteran. He served his country in the 224 Infantry Regiment Korea Tank Company as Seargent from May 1953 to April 1954 at Punchbowl, Satae-RI, Kumhwa, Chorwon Valley. He was honorably discharged in 1955. He went to work at Allied Mills, eventually bought his own dump truck and in the fall of 1965 went to work for Cummins of Fort Wayne where he worked as a field mechanic until he retired in 1997.
He is survived by his wife Janet Sparks, 2 sons Rick and Wendell , 2 daughters Denise and Jeanine, 7 grandchildren, Jared Sparks, Audra Uher, Sara McQueen, Amanda Baran , Stephanie Ahlersmeyer, Cailin Ellis, Calab Ellis and 12 great grandchildren Avery, Conner, Austin, Brock, Kash, Hailey, Linkin, Madeline, Savannah, Kyla, Jaelyn and Baby Ellis
