T. Neil Hansen completed his mission here on earth and passed away peacefully at his home in Harrisville Utah on September 27, 2021.  He battled Cancer since his diagnosis almost a year ago and fought every day to stay with us until the very end.  T. Neil was born in Pasco, WA on November 10, 1942.  He was the oldest of 3 children of Ted and Nina Smith Hansen.  Not long after his father returned home from the war, they moved to Ogden, UT.  As a young boy he spent his first couple of years solely with his mother until his father returned home and was a momma’s boy from day 1.

He attended Horace Mann Elementary, Mound Fort Junior High and Ben Lomond High School graduating in 1961.  He later attended college at Utah State University and graduated from Weber State University with a bachelor’s degree in political science with a minor in history.  T. Neil loved politics and had early ambitions of going into public service.

T. Neil served a mission for the LDS Church in Copenhagen Denmark.  His time was cut short there and he had to return home for major health issues after just 6 months.  He regained his health, and completed another two years in Escondido, CA and Tempe and Mesa AZ.  Not long after his return he met his eternal sweetheart Barbara Aileen Bradford.  They were sealed in the Logan Temple and spent the last 55 years together. T. Neil and Barbara have two sons, Christopher Ted and Michael Morris.

 T. Neil worked at English Tailors for several years while attending college.  Some of his fondest memories where spent there and he developed lifelong friendships.  After graduation from college, he went to work at Hill Air Force Base and spent 37 years there before his retirement.  Most of his time there was as the Chief of Vehicle Transportation reporting directly to the Base Commander.    At the time of his retirement, he was the most senior civilian in the Air Force and was given full military honors.

T. Neil was an active member of the LDS Church and held many leadership positions.  Some of his greatest memories were spent in the “Old” and “New” 51st Wards.  T. Neil was a born leader and used his gifts and talents in many ways.  He had a way with people.  He could carry on a conversation with anyone, and a stranger could become a cherished friend after a quick introduction.

T. Neil and Barbara and their boys have many memories of camping trips to Sourdough Wilderness Ranch, Annual trips to “The Ranch”, Plane Rides and Amtrak Trains to Burlington IA to visit Grandparents, Disneyland, Yellowstone and many more. Once his boys were grown, the focus of Mom and Dad easily transitioned to their 5 grandchildren (Hailey, Trevor, Landon, Liv & Eva).  Grandpa loved his Grandkids and cherished every moment he had with each of them.  The Grandkids always had Grandpa’s full attention.

T. Neil is survived by his wife Barbara and their two sons Chris, Midvale UT & Mike (Anne), Fircrest, WA.  He is also survived by one brother, Larry (Jeannine) Hansen of Sandy UT, and a sister Janet (Rick) Wessler of Cincinnati, OH.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Nina Hansen.

The Family would like to provide a special thanks to Dr. Carl Gray & Staff, Dr. Corey Ferguson, Dr. Mariam Nassif & Active Hospice – specifically Audrey and Hanna who took such great care of Dad!
