T. Donald “Don” Von Doehren, 60, died at 7:10 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 10, 2009) at his home after an extended illness. He was born July 25, 1949, in Waynesburg, Pa., to Robert A. Von Doehren and Esther L. Rush. He married Marta J. Lotz Royer on March 17, 1997, in Elkhart.

He is survived by his wife; his mother of Brandon, Fla.; one son, Bryan Von Doehren of Elkhart; one daughter, Stephanie (Steve) Clark of Elkhart; two sisters, Ginny (John) Werner of Seffner, Fla., and Rosemary (Larry) Ellis of Tampa, Fla.; one brother, David Von Doehren of Tampa, Fla.; two stepsons, Jeremy (Beth) Royer of Elkhart and Randy (Michelle Royer) of Elkhart; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1995.

Mr. Von Doehren was a lifelong construction worker and owned and operated Tri-Cor Construction of Elkhart for more than 30 years. He retired in 2004. He enjoyed bowling and took part in the Thursday night leagues at Rainbow Lanes. He enjoyed “boys’ nights out” at the bowling alley on Fridays with the male siblings in his family. He was very family-oriented and loved to spend as much time as he could with his grandchildren. He often took them to their lake property at Cass Lake near Middlebury.
