DUBLIN- Sylvia S. Bates, 74, passed away on Tuesday evening July 27, 2010 at her home in Dublin. A daughter of the late Richard and Viola (Webb) Smith, Sylvia was born in Beattyville, Kentucky on May 1, 1936. She was the valedictorian of her high school class of 1955 in Loveland, Ohio. Sylvia moved from Hamilton, Ohio to the Dublin, Indiana community in 1961.
