Sylvia M. (Harmston) Carlile, 74, of LaSalle, passed away, Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at Illinois Valley Community Hospital. Mrs. Carlile was born May 13, 1941, in Pana to Herbert M. and Fronie (Bland) Harmston.
She married John T. Rip Carlile on June 29, 1957, in Ottawa. He passed away on September 6, 2012. She worked at Westclox assembling clocks and timers. She enjoyed making novelty cakes, baking, and birdwatching. She was very generous in giving to many charities, including the Lakota Indians, animal rescue, American Cancer Society, among others.
She is survived by her children, Angela Thomas of LaSalle, Josie (John) Walker of Akron, OH, Sandra (Paul) Grotti of LaSalle, Phillip Carlile of Sullivan, and adopted daughter, Paula (Jake) Crouch of LaSalle; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and two on the way; a brother, Louis Harmston of Oglesby and 3 sisters, Mary Klopcic of LaSalle, Donna Bugiyne of Mendota and Dale (Dick) Kuhl on Putnam. S
he was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Johnnie; 5 sisters, and 1 brother.
