Born October 19, 1930 Rifle, ColoradoFirst Day in Heaven – August 7, 2022Sylvia Layne Edwards of Carriere, MS passed away after a brief illness while surrounded by family in Chattanooga, TN.Sylvia was born in Rifle, CO to James and Juanita ( Morrow) Layne. She grew up on her family’s ranch surrounded by a very warmand involved extended family. In high school, she was very involved in Rainbow, holding the office of Worthy Advisor. Sylvia attendedChristian churches while living in Colorado. After graduating from high school, she married Leslie Edwards on June 27, 1949 at the family ranch in south Rifle.Their marriage of 36 years gave them seven children: Joan, Danny, Rhonda, Mark, Cathy, Brian and ‘ work with Chevron Oil Company took them to Vernal, UT, and throughout northwest Colorado to Meeker, Artesia, and Rangley…Sylvia formed many friendships in the Carriere / Picayune area. She volunteered at Crosby Memorial Hospital for many years always greeting patients with asmile.. Sylvia was one of Picayune Maroon Tide Football’s biggest fans,attending home and away games since 1996. She was her son, Coach Brian Edwards’ #1 fan. She loved her home and made it a place of love, faith, and strength for her family. Sheraised her children and helped raise her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Throughout Sylvia’s life, investing in her church was very important to her. As such, she lived and loved as a faithful member of the Church of Christ in Picayune for is survived by three daughters and one son: Joan (Curt) Bryant of Flippin, AR, Cathy (Dave) Fatt of Springville, IN, Christine (Randy) Warren of Culleoka, TN, andBrian (Tami) Edwards of Picayune, MS.. Sylvia had 33 1/2 great grandchildren, and one great great grandaughter, Eliza Smith whom she loved dearly. She was also survived by two sisters, Marlea (Phil) Antes and Shirley (David) Lawson, both of Rifle, will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by numerous nieces, nephews, and ….
