Sylvester James “”Jimmy”” Nunley 85, Huntington, IN passed away Monday, December 3, 2012 at 5:15 pm at Lutheran Hospital Fort Wayne, IN. Mr. Nunley was born April 30, 1927 in Braeholm, West Virginia to James F and Grace Dalton Nunley. His parents preceded him in death. Mr. Nunley married Hester Ward Nunley on January 22, 1946 in Paintsville, KY. She preceded him death February 19, 2010. James was a carpenter with Local # 232, Fort Wayne, IN from 1966 – 1983.
He previously worked as a custodian for 7 years for the Melbourne, Florida School system. Mr. Nunley was in the Navy and served in World War II and the Korean War. Survivors include: two sons: Thomas (Marie) Nunley, Ossian, IN and Frank Nunley and his companion Peggy Jo, Huntington, IN; two daughters: Diane (John) Wolski, Syracuse, IN and Betty (Russell) Rulason, Whittemore, MI. 11 Grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren. One brother: David Nunley, Milton, MA; 7 sisters: Polly (George) Carver, Raceland, KY; Mary Ward, Reed City, MI; Bonnie Potter, Pine Bluff, AR; Margaret Rinfroe, Ashland, KY; Shirley King, Ashland, KY; Faye Nelson, Reed City, MI; and Barbara(Johnnie) Tackett, Ashland, KY. James was also preceded in death by four sons: Bud Nunley, Charles Nunley, Jessie Nunley and Dennis Nunley; one daughter: Mary Ann Nunley and two brothers: Bill Nunley and Robert Nunley.
