Sydney Ione Jacobson, Manidooikwe, was born May 11, 1996 in Detroit Lakes, MN to Becky (Smith) Bjorge and Eugene “Mooney” Jacobson and raised by Roy Bjorge, Sr.
Syd spent her life growing up in White Earth and Mahnomen where she also attended school and achieved her GED from Mahnomen School in 2014. Two years after her inspirational and beautiful daughter Lainee was born.
Although short, Syd will be remembered for living her life to the fullest. Doing what she loves and with those that she loves. Most recently Syd worked at the Shooting Star Casino as a Hostess and was awaiting the time to go back to work. Throughout her lifetime her primary enjoyment came from being with her daughter, her family and her friends while listening to music, her love for powwows and impeccable talents of writing and drawing. Most often Syd will be remembered for her love of music, her competitiveness, her dream to go to school to become a writer and to study philosophy, her loud, boisterous and somewhat annoying laugh and the moments when she would randomly jump up and start spouting off some random rap in someone’s face.
Sydney is survived by her greatest gift and daughter Lainee; special friend, Montana Roy; her parents, Becky and Roy Bjorge, Eugene “Mooney” Jacobson and Amy; paternal grandmother, Norma Jacobson; five sisters, Tori (Derrick), Sharissa (Seth), Ellita, Kayla (Michael) and Toya; four brothers, Roy Jr., Isiah, Isaac and Anthony; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Awaiting Sydney’s arrival to the spirit world are maternal grandparents, Jan (Busse) and Carl Smith; paternal grandpa, “Chich” Rock; paternal grandparents, Byron and Rita Bjorge; brother, Ian; uncle, Joe; and her childhood best friend Brennan “Bearman” Kier.
Isiah Jacobson, Isaac Jacobson and Michael Littlewolf. Her honorary pallbearers are Roy Bjorge, Sr., Alyssa Jacobson, Sharissa Jacobson, Heidi Jackson, Ashley Hanson, Michael Magney, Wendy Littlewolf, Todd Parker, Erica Bice, Michael Morley, Mercedes Gagnon, Brent Murray and all her family and friends she’d chill with. At Sydney’s request, her cremated remains will remain with her family for safe keeping.
