  • Date Of Death: May 24, 2016
  • State: Michigan

Suzanne Marie (Bonine) Williams, age 74, of Redwood City, California died May 24, 2016 in her home in the peace and comfort of her family. Suzanne was born October 16, 1941 in South Bend, Indiana to Marvin and Dorothea Bonine. She was followed by brothers James and Thomas and sister Joanne (now Quarles). Her father’s business opportunities took the family to many places around the country: Virginia, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Michigan, Indiana and California. Suzanne graduated from Palo Alto High School in 1959.

She earned a nursing degree RN) from Abbott Hospital School of Nursing, Minnesota in 1969. Suzanne has two children, James and Debby, from and earlier marriage. While working for a pediatrician near Stanford Hospital, she met Dr. Stephen H. Williams, a physicist at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center, in 1970. They were married on April 1, 1972 (No Fooling!) in Reno, Nevada. Steve adopted Jim and Debby a year later as his own. Jim and Debby and their families also live in Northern California. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Thomas Bonine, who died in Viet Nam, and James Bonine. Suzanne’s first priority was always her kids and Steve.

She was always at the Little League games, became a Girl Scout leader, even went camping with the Boy Scouts when Steve became a Scoutmaster. But her greatest role was that of grandmother to her five grandchildren. She had a knack for communicating with them from birth to five and beyond. She was so proud of their accomplishments in school, in community theater, in sports and now in college. Suzanne will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by her husband of over forty four years, Stephen Williams of Redwood City, California; daughter and son in law, Debby and Tip Weiss of Monterey, California; son and daughter in law, James and Rosalie Williams of Danville, California; grandchildren, Riley Williams, Spencer Williams, Cole Williams, Cassidy Weiss and Katee Weiss; and sister, Joni and husband Gary Quarles of Eagle River, Alaska.
