Suzanne E. “Sue” Wokna, 88, of Peru, passed away Thursday morning, June 6, 2019, at Heritage Healthcare Center, Peru. Ms. Wokna was born on September 21, 1930, in LaSalle to Joseph and Catherine (Stachowiak) Wokna.
She worked at JC Penney, Peru, and retired from the admitting department at Illinois Valley Community Hospital after many years of service. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, Peru, the Altar and Rosary Society, and the Illinois Valley Community Hospital Auxiliary.
She is survived by her sister, Joan Suarez of Peru; seven nieces and nephews, Michael (Susan) Suarez, Jeffrey Suarez, Steven (Susan) Suarez, Jane (Stan) Kuczynski, Julie Moore, David (Lynda) Suarez, and Peter (Kori) Suarez; 22 great-nieces and nephews and 18 great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother-in-law, Vincent Suarez, and a nephew, Thomas Suarez.
