Susie Penna Grillo, 96, of 135 Putnam Ave., formerly of Maryknoll Road, Hamden passed away on Feb. 22, 2014 in Apple Rehab of Guilford. She was the widow of George Grillo. Mrs. Grillo was born in Torrington of July 25, 1917, daughter of the late Michael and Eleanor Mencarelli Penna. She was a presser of men’s and women’s shirts for The Sero Shirt Co. where she worked for 60 years. She was a union organizer and member of Amalgamated Union No. 125. Prior to her retirement, she worked in inventory control and lead person for Ann Taylor Fashions. She enjoyed a robust life of activities. She was the treasurer of the Women’s Auxiliary of the former Village Unity League in the Legion Avenue section of New Haven; a member of The Red Hatters; Dunbar Arts & Crafts; and sang in the choir at both St. Ann’s and St.
