  • Date Of Birth: December 28, 1950
  • Date Of Death: May 13, 2020

Kathleen “Susan” Stevens (Berg) went home to be with her Lord Jesus Christ at 4:49 am on May 13th, 2020 at 69 years of age. The cause of death was a pulmonary embolism.

Susan was born on Dec 28th, 1950 in Herkimer, NY and grew up In Newport, NY. She attended West Canada Valley Central School, graduating with the class of 1968. She moved to St. Petersburg, FL in 1977. Susan was married to Edward Ira Stevens on May 30th, 1983, inheriting in the process three children: Mark, Whitney and Kimberly. Susan earned a B.A. in Business Administration and Computing at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, FL in 1984 and an M.S. in Information Systems from Florida Institute of Technology in 1997.

In an era when not many women worked in the computer field, Susan was a pioneer. From 1980 -1985, she served as the Assistant to the Director of Planning & Analytical Studies at Eckerd College.
Susan was incredibly kind and compassionate, and she dedicated much of her life to serving others. After moving to Meridian, Susan began working as a companion, bringing comfort and encouragement to those who suffered from forms of dementia, including Alzheimer’s.
Susan and Edward loved to travel abroad and enjoyed trips to Great Britain and Ireland, France, Spain, Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary, Canada, St. Martin, and New Zealand. She was an avid reader, accomplished in knitting and crocheting, a warm hostess and a wonderful mother, grandmother, wife and friend. She was adored by all who knew her, including her kitties and “grandkitties”.

While these bits of information communicate where and when Susan lived and what she did, they fall woefully short in communicating who she was and how profoundly she impacted those who knew her and were the grateful recipients of her compassionate love. Susan was a truly great human being, not only as man reckons greatness, but as God Himself reckons greatness (Matthew 20:25-28). She will hold a place of honor in the hearts of her family and friends forever.

Susan is predeceased by her father, Nicholas Berg, and her mother Katherine Butler. She is survived by her husband Edward, his son Mark Stevens, Mark’s wife Lisa and their children Christiana, Carina, Andrew and William; daughter Whitney Miller, her husband Victor and their children Victor and Margaux; and daughter Kimberly Pannone and her children Madison and Nathaniel.
