Susan (Tyburski) Steele, 55, of Forestville, beloved wife, mother, teacher and friend, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 5, 2016.

Born in New Britain on August 30, 1960, she was one of three daughters to the late Walter and Elizabeth (Bodurka) Tyburski.  Raised in Bristol, she was a graduate of Bristol Eastern High School, and went on to attend Western Connecticut State University, and Central Connecticut State University, from where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree and her Master’s Degree in education.  Sue began her teaching career in the Plainville School System at Toffolon Elementary School, where she would meet her husband, Jeff, sharing with him close to 25 years of marriage.  She touched the lives of countless students and fellow teachers during her more than thirty years as an educator, currently in the English Arts Department at the Middle School of Plainville, where she leaves many friends, coworkers and adored students. Additionally, she was greatly involved as a representative and Vice President of the Education Association of Plainville.  Above all, Sue devoted much of her time to her family, volunteering for her daughter’s girls scout troop for the past fifteen years, and looked forward to family vacations to Bar Harbor and Cape Cod.  She will be deeply missed, leaving a tremendous void in the lives of everyone she met.

In addition to her husband, Jeff, she leaves her children, Zach and Kate, both of Forestville; her sisters, Nancy Jordan and her husband, Bill of Rhode Island and Judith Purney of Bristol; her mother-in-law, Helen Steele of Bristol; and her brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Cathy Steele and Kathy and Stan Zurek all of Plainville; along with many nieces and nephews.  She was recently predeceased by her father-in-law, Raymond Steele and her brother-in-law, John Purney, both formerly of Bristol.
