Susan Kay Skow, the daughter of Russell E. and Persis (Adams) Johnson, was born on June 19, 1947 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She grew up on their farm in Corinth Township. From an early age she exhibited a love of horses and all things furry. Susan graduated from Humboldt High School in 1966. On October 20, 1967. Susan married Dennis Clark. They were later divorced. Susan was most proud of being a founder of JIT Machining in Humboldt. She spent her retirement years breeding and training horses as well as giving riding lessons.
Left to cherish Susan’s memory is her son, Jeff (Reggie) Clark of Thor; a granddaughter, Joselyn Clark of Thor; sisters, Joanne (David) Witiak of Anacortes, WA, Virginia (Jim) Horn of Thor and Mary Jane (Walt) Harris of Fort Dodge; a brother, Thomas (Diane) Johnson of Oelwein; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Michael Johnson. Susan will be sorely missed by many of her riding students and numerous friends throughout the horse world. She will be especially missed by family, relatives and her horses.
